Nerdalize is a successful scale-up and is expanding fast. As they are developing an innovative and highly technological product, knowledge sharing and collaboration are key. WOW conducted a research into the needs and ways of working at the organization. The results of this research provided us with an overview of the dependencies and opportunities to increase collaboration as an organic whole. Our advice lead to a collaborative working environment that supports the expansion.

COORDINATION MIGRATION

 

By moving to it's new headquarters Robeco introduced a new workplace concept. This concept means a flexible way of working and choosing your workplace based on the users activities. The starting point is that users can work any time and any place. Therefore, the physical and IT environment are aligned to support this way of working.

REAL ESTATE SOLUTIONS

 

Corporate Places & WOW are working together with the common belief that developing tailored concepts for vacant office buildings creates added value for its owners and users. Sharing spaces and reusing existing resources is a smart and sustainable way to counteract the increasing vacancy of office space. Our approach is to set conditions for good stewardship, design a conscious, trendy workspace and a circular way of life.

DEVELOPING AN EFFICIENT WORKSPACE

 

Nictiz wanted to improve the efficiency in use of office space and facilitate a flexible workplace concept that stimulates co-creation. Thorough research was conducted on the current ways of working and dependencies between departments. The product of our research is a tailored advice on the necessary adjustments to optimize the physical and IT workspace. 

VISION ON THE FUTURE WORKPLACE

 

Facilitating today’s offices requires another approach towards work, both from a behavioral, IT and facilities perspective. In partnership with Mapiq and the Centre for People and Building we developed a vision on the future of the workplace to inspire other people working in this field and to share our knowledge and experience.

MOBILITY

Robeco wanted to offer their employees a flexible choice in the way they commute. Mobility had to be introduced by using multiple means of transportation aligned with the BREEAM sustainability requirements. The goal was to develop a personal mobility advice for 1000 employees with several transportation means facilitated by the organization. 

BUILDING PASSPORT

 

Developments follow up quickly. Therefore an adaptive workplace concept is a must for organizations to optimally facilitate their employees. This means that the interior should be adapted too. To support organizations and change the old, linear way of thinking into a culture in which products retain their value, the building passport provides a furniture inventory, insight into the excess capacity and creates a marketplace where demand and supply of office furniture meet.

OPTIMIZATION ENTRANCE SPACE

 

The appearance of the main entrance of the FIRST tower in Rotterdam did not fit the design of the building and the operational requirements for welcoming guests. In the new design, the main focus is on optimization of the guest experience for guests visiting FIRST. As FIRST is a BREEAM Excellent building, sustainability principles are the basis for all decisions regarding re-use and selection of furniture.

PILOT AND IMPLEMENTATION DIGITAL SCRUM

 

Approximately 200 employees of Robeco work according to the principles of the agile development method. These teams used to work with physical scrum walls to provide insight in action planning by using sticky notes. The new office environment does not support this way of working, because of a lack of walls and a clean desk policy including data security. Therefore, a different approach with digital tooling was to be implemented with the focus on collaboration and user experience. 

COMPILING ART COLLECTION

 

As the art collection did not match the core values and was not inspiring to its employees, we established an art committee. This committee determined the criteria and compiled a collection that improved the working environment and expresses the core values of the organization.

KNOWLEGDE SHARING

Practical experience is of great added value to students and professionals in our field of expertise. That is why we regularly organize talks and workshops to help gain better understanding on developing research-based workplace concepts. This method works both ways as it provides new insights and perspectives. Existing collaborations in this field are the NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences and Building Office Buildings. 

INTEGRATION SERVICEDESK IT AND FACILITIES

 

A rapid and excellent support is key for employees. At Robeco, the service desk was ran by a facilities- and an IT team. Moving into a new office has brought change in this way of working and resulted in an integrated service desk for IT and facilities, a Service Plaza. The components of this Service Plaza are a physical service point as well as a digital platform.

The philosophy of the Service Plaza is that the solution for every incident or request will be handled after a single notification.
